Study Abroad Guidelines

Planning on studying Spanish abroad? Often people hesitate when booking their trip to attend Spanish schools in Argentina because they can't decide how long their trip should be. When you are planning to study Spanish abroad, consider the following guidelines:

- Study abroad programs are very intensive: you will learn more in 4 weeks in Spanish schools in Argentina than you would if you had simply attended a one-semester Spanish course in college.

- A four week program has more actual class-time than a college semester.

- If your course is five weeks or longer it is good strategy to study at different locations. The change will reenergize your studies. For a seamless transfer between venues, choose a single program that operates in multiple locations. For example, you can start studying in Buenos Aires for four weeks, and then continue in Córdoba, Mendoza and Bariloche.

- If you have the time, take a four-month program spread over four locations and by the end of the program you will be very conversational, if not fluent, in Spanish. - If you plan to travel for four weeks or less, one rule of thumb is to stick to just one location. After all, it can take a few weeks to feel fully settled, and you won't want to leave just when you are starting to feel at home.

- For people who can only get away for two weeks at a time, one strategy is to study two weeks each year. However, don't forget to review material and to practice between trips.

Group Courses

Group Courses

These classes are small, typically only 3 to 6 students, with similar levels of proficiency. AISL keeps classes small so that we can provide students with lots of personal attention.

AISL recommends the group classes to students who will be making longer visits, especially if they are interested in complementing their language studies with other cultural, sightseeing, and social experiences.

Accomodation

Home-stay

Home-stay

- Accommodation in argentine family homes. Home-stay has the advantage that you can practice your Spanish all the time and learn more about our culture, meeting local people.
- Breakfast is included. Dinner can be provided at home (optional).

- Comfortable private or double rooms, with private or shared bathroom.

AISL chooses your home-stay based on your preferences (smoking/non-smoking; couple with children/no children; etc) and your specific requirements (specific diet, no pets, etc.)

- Students staying with host families have total freedom to come and go as they please since they have their own house key.

- Host families homes are located in neighborhoods close to AISL and the city center. All families have been carefully selected and are monitored so that your home stay experience is to your complete satisfaction. AISL considers the level of culture, hospitality, affection, the comfort of the house, the atmosphere in the family, and the proximity to the school. Living standards are similar to Europe or North America.

- Home-stay is the perfect complement to increase your language learning and achieve complete cultural immersion. It is an opportunity to experience the culture and life-style of Argentina first-hand, and establish new friendships that will last you a lifetime.
